Hello, I'm Jenny Pike.
An NCPS Accredited counsellor, tutor and former nurse, working with adults and couples across Cornwall and online.
I've spent most of my life in one caring role or another. I came to counselling from a nursing background — my journey began in 2007, when I enrolled on a person-centred counselling course here in Cornwall. That first year taught me so much, and left me certain I wanted to make counselling my career — a decision that led to four more years of study.
As my skills and knowledge grew, I felt a strong pull to share what I'd learned — to show people that recovery from a traumatic childhood is possible, and that those who've been hurt can be supported to work through their experiences, find peace and acceptance, and believe in themselves, perhaps for the first time.
I began teaching in 2010, starting with human biology for adults — a love of biology that has stayed with me ever since. But counselling and psychotherapy have always been at the heart of my teaching. Alongside biology I've taught Psychology, Ethics, Sociology and Counselling at Levels 2, 3 and 4, working with respected awarding boards including CPCAB, AIM and OCN.
For all the training and teaching I've done, my greatest privilege is working with people — students and clients alike. Watching someone work through their difficulties is, quite simply, the most rewarding part of my career. Building trust and relational depth isn't always easy, but seeing the difference it makes is worth everything.
Over the years I've worked with complex needs and with groups, specialising in addiction, trauma, depression, low self-esteem and anxiety. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; instead I get to know each person's needs and shape the therapy around them, drawing on CBT, Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt.
I undertake continual professional development to keep my practice up to date, and I work with my own qualified supervisor to strengthen the support I offer. Where a client is ever discussed in supervision, no names or identifying details are shared — your anonymity is always protected.
My ethos is simple: I will listen, I will offer you a safe place, and I will be completely committed to supporting you on your journey. If I ever feel I'm not the right person to help you, then as a duty of care I'll help you find someone who is. Your choices are always your own — but I'll always be here to listen, however hard the road ahead may seem.
Let's talk.
If any of this resonates, I'd be glad to hear from you.
